How it came together.
An original skylight coming out during the reroof.
The completed roof across every plane, with both new skylights in.
What we did.
For this Upper Saddle River project Landstar completed a large full roof replacement. The crew reshingled the whole roof and installed new ridge caps and new ventilation across it. Two old skylights were removed and replaced with new units, fitted and flashed while the surrounding roof was open. The house carries its roof over several planes with multiple ridges and valleys, so the work ran plane by plane rather than as one continuous slope.
Why it matters.
On a roof this size, price and durability turn on complexity rather than square footage. Two roofs of identical area can behave completely differently depending on how many planes, valleys, dormers and skylights they carry, because every one of those junctions is a place water can get in if it is flashed carelessly. Skylights are the clearest example. A skylight is only ever as watertight as the flashing tying it into the roof around it, which is why replacing an aging unit during a reroof costs far less trouble than doing it afterward and cutting back into finished work.
What went into it.

- New ridge caps
- New roof ventilation
- Two replacement skylights
