02 / THE SHORT ANSWER

Landstar installs and replaces siding, fascia, and soffit across New Jersey in vinyl, fiber cement, and related systems, flashed and house-wrapped so water stays out of the wall. Most New Jersey siding replacements run roughly $8,000 to $25,000, or about $4 to $12 per square foot for vinyl and more for fiber cement, depending on the home's size.

03 / WHAT WE DO

Siding is the part of the house that takes the most weather, after the roof. We see vinyl that’s brittle and cracked at year fifteen, cedar that wasn’t back-primed and is rotting from the inside out, and fiber-cement that was nailed wrong and is buckling at the seams. All preventable.

We install James Hardie fiber cement to the manufacturer’s spec, fastener pattern, clearances, flashing. Hardie isn’t the cheapest siding on the market, but it’s the one we put on our own houses. If budget calls for vinyl, we install vinyl right, house wrap, flashing tape, proper expansion gaps, the works.

Color matching for repair work is a coin flip after fifteen years. We’ll be honest about what we can get and what’s going to look slightly off. Most of the time we can find a match close enough to live with on a side wall.

05 / HOW IT GOES

The process.

  1. Day 1

    Measure and quote

Field measurements, course count, trim list. Written quote within 48 hours with material samples on hand.

  2. Day 2–5

    Order

Material lead time depends on color and product line. Hardie is usually 2–3 weeks; vinyl is in stock.

  3. Day 6

    Tear-off

Old siding pulled, sheathing inspected for rot, dump trailer on-site. Any sheathing repairs called out before we re-cover.

  4. Day 7

    Wrap and flash

Full house wrap, flashing tape at every penetration, sill flashing under windows. The waterproofing layer goes on right before the siding does.

  5. Day 8–10

    Install

Siding hung to manufacturer spec, fastener depth, expansion gaps, corner returns. We don't shortcut the details that show up in year five.

  6. Day 11

    Trim and finish

Corners, J-channel, drip edge, caulking. Final walk-through with the homeowner before invoice.

07 / COMMON QUESTIONS

Siding & Fascia questions.

How much does siding cost in New Jersey?
Most New Jersey siding replacements run roughly $8,000 to $25,000 for an average home, or about $4 to $12 per square foot for vinyl and more for fiber cement (such as James Hardie), depending on the home's size, the number of stories, and how much rotted sheathing or trim needs replacing. Landstar gives you an exact written price after a free inspection.
Should I do vinyl or Hardie?
Hardie if you want it to look like real wood, hold paint for 15 years, and survive a hailstorm. Vinyl if budget is the priority, modern vinyl is much better than the 1990s stuff and runs about 40% less installed.
Can you match a small repair to my existing siding?
Usually yes. We carry color charts for the major manufacturers and can usually pull a matching panel in a few days. If your siding is more than 15 years old, exact matches get harder, we'll show you what's available before we order.
Do you replace the fascia and soffit at the same time?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. If you're already up there pulling siding, fascia and soffit are an extra day or two and they're the most common entry point for water and animals. Bundling saves you a separate mobilization.
What's covered by the warranty?
Workmanship, fastening, flashing, trim work, anything we install. The manufacturer's product warranty covers the fiber-cement and finish separately. Both warranties are project-specific and provided in writing with the contract.
